Giant Forest Restoration Project: Project 200, 1992-2002, bulk: 1999-2000

 Series — Multiple Containers
Identifier: Series 1.

Series Scope and Content Summary

The restoration of Giant Forest, or "Project 200," was the single most significant Park undertaking of the late 20th century. A complex project with multiple components, the work involved all Park divisions and was undertaken through numerous contractors and sub-contractors. The project involved the demolition of several hundred historic structures, the relocation of concession facilities, and the development of new infrastructure (including the creation of a new lodge and a new Visitor Center). Upon completion, the project restored the Parks' principal feature and the world's preeminent grove of giant sequoias to its natural state.

The series consists of plans, project management files, cost estimates, contracts and modifications, and health and safety plans. The projects included in this series include: Rail and Fence, 1999; Round Meadow Trail, 1999-2000; Lodgepole Market re-roofing, 1999; Wolverton lead monitoring and re-roofing, 1999; and the construction of Wuksachi, 1992-2001.
