Livestock, 1932 - 1939
Included in these images are photographs of livestock at SJER and around California. SJER was the site of a large-scale study to compare the growth of supplemented (protein) and unsupplmented cattle. Studies were also conducted on the toxic effects of acorn consumption.
People, 1932 - 1940
Several images in this collection depict people at SJER including photographs of field days and other gatherings. Some of the work on the SJER was performed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the Great Depression.

These photographs were taken at locations believed to be representative of vegetation before it was impacted by grazing and other human impacts. They were often taken in places inaccessible to livestock or in protected areas such as cemeteries.

In addition to relict area photographs, photographs in these folders demonstrate rodent studies that studied the impacts rodents had on forage production using enclosures to confine the rodents and exclosures to keep them out.
